Let the Advent Countdown Puzzles Begin!

December 1st marks a special occasion for puzzlers and the Christmas season, it is the start of some fun countdown to Christmas puzzles! Advent calendars have been around for years but the puzzle advent calendar is fairly new, I think. I am not quite sure exactly how this amazing puzzle countdown tradition started, but I am so happy it is now an annual event!  In November 2021, Karen Puzzles made an advent calendar from a puzzle she owned and I remember thinking, that is such a fun idea! I first heard of it in Karen’s video, so she might have pioneered this fun event cause I just don’t remember seeing them prior to her video! Nowadays, you can find a large selection of advent puzzle calendars on Amazon and most puzzle stores around the world. Reverie has a beautiful one with twenty-four 99-piece puzzles. (Link to puzzle on Rose Willie puzzle shop if you want to check it out!) This year is the second year they have had an advent calendar and I cannot wait to get this year’s Reverie countdown started! I really can’t name every company that has these advent puzzles, but this year, I will be doing 5 advent calendars! Reverie is the first one, they are individual puzzles and I know the art will be gorgeous, although, I haven’t peeked at all, I just know it will be! And I will be putting these gorgeous mini puzzles together on my new Zakco puzzle board! These puzzles are going to look absolutely beautiful on my Zakco puzzle board! You can find Zak’s full selection on his Etsy shop, just click the highlighted link above!

I have an advent calendar from All4Jig, which is a new item they have out this year. All4Jig is largely known for their very cool puzzle boards and tables, of which I am the proud owner of two of them! One is mobile (yes it is on wheels!) and I absolutely love it since I tend to puzzle in different rooms in my house! The other puzzle board allows you to sit on the floor or you can place it on a table and this one is easy to stow away under your couch if you need to! Both have drawers for sorting and storing pieces, the top slants to prevent neck strain, there is a felt surface so the pieces do not slide around when the table top is slanted, and it includes a plastic cover so nothing can harm your puzzle when you step away! This is especially important for the cat owners of the world, cause we know how cats are with puzzles! Lol! Cats can get a little crazy at times! They also have puzzle boards with a lazy susan, which I think are amazing! I will be doing my All4Jig puzzle on my non-mobile All4Jig puzzle board since I have another Christmas puzzle going on my mobile puzzle board! The All4Jig advent calendar has scenes that connect to make one 1000 piece puzzle. The scenes are super cute, so follow along on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, since I will be posting on each throughout the season!

Two other puzzle advent calendars I have are generic brands I found on Amazon. One is a Disney theme, cause we all know how much I love Disney puzzles! The other is a Grinch themed puzzle! I seem to do at least one Grinch puzzle every season! These puzzles also connect to make a full 1000 piece puzzle. Each day is a little scene and I think they will be so cute when they are completed!

The fifth puzzle is part of a puzzle exchange on Instagram called the New Years Puzzle Exchange hosted by puzzle_pun. I missed this event last year since I found it after December 1st and the host was kind enough to tag me and others this year so we wouldn’t forget! My puzzle swap partner, Virginia and I, have already swapped our puzzles and I know she is just as excited as I am to get started! I cannot give away any hints at the puzzle I made for her, but I will be posting it on my social channels after she completes it! I don’t want to spoil a single thing for Virginia! I will say though, it is the cutest and most fun puzzle! I loved building it so much and I hope Virginia enjoys it as well!

So what advent calendar puzzle will you be doing this year? If you have one or 5, let me know in the comments! Have a blast with whatever your month of December has in store, and as always, happy puzzling and happy December!
