I started my YouTube channel, Addicted2Puzzles, on January 1st, 2017! I cannot believe my YouTube channel is almost 8 years old! My very first video was a time lapse video of a Springbok puzzle with a snowman and it was sideways (click here to view my first ever YouTube video!)! And I believe the next few time lapse videos were also sideways. Lol! Not only were they sideways but they were also a bit distorted. They weren’t quite straight or square, they were just a bit off. My videos were posted sporadically, not on any kind of schedule (kind of like my in 2024), just when I was able to do a puzzle and a time lapse. In 2017, I had 3 cats, 3 dogs, a 6 year old and a full time job, so life was just a little busy and squeezing in good time-lapse worthy puzzle time was a bit tough.
My first videos were time lapses consisting of lots of pictures taken every 2 or 3 seconds. That was when I was doing 500 and 1000 piece puzzles. Then I started the 40,000 piece Disney Memorable Moments puzzle. The first section of this magnificent puzzle was Bambi and that time lapse consisted of over 15,000 pictures! So the next section was a mixture of an automatic pic taken every 3 seconds and me manually taking a picture after I finally placed a few peices, which removed my hands from the puzzle area. When I reviewed this footage, I thought it looked so cool! The puzzle was just magically building itself! So for the next quite a lot of puzzles, I would take a picture after every few pieces were placed so you never saw my hands in the video. This also allowed for some really fun stop motion opportunities! I stopped doing it this way in 2023. I would actually just record a video instead of manually taking pictures so you could watch the full puzzle being built in a hyperlapse. I personally love the manual pics, so I am going to try and do a good mix when I get back to time lapsing!
I also did a time lapse of a 3D BePuzzled puzzle and there were quite a few requests for an actual tutorial. So, I started doing 3D BePuzzled puzzle tutorials! I was doing one a week, then I had to drop back, as they take almost a full day to do. Now, I do them as time permits or if I get a request. I have well over 100 tutorials on my channel, so if you ever need help with a 3D puzzle, I probably have one for you! And if you can’t find the one you’re looking for, just reach out and I will make one!
At the current time, I haven’t been making any long form YouTube video content since my time has just been limited due to life and work. I have barely time lapsed this year, which is crazy. I will get back to it in 2025, maybe Christmas 2024, but I am unsure what my puzzle time will look like this holiday season! Puzzles and YouTube will always be a big priority for me, cause I love them both so much! This year, my dogs have needed me more, so I hang out with them instead of being in my puzzle room time lapsing. They really love someone being with them, like starting as soon as I get off work! lol! And I am usually the only one available. My dogs are 11-year-old basset hounds, one with health issues, so of course I will sit with them when they need and want me! My puzzles will be there when the time is right!
